Jordan has been way too busy since he got home from his last trip to Canada to even consider updating this, so I guess it’s my turn. So far we have actually had a bit of a summer here in the UK, we even got lucky on the day of my Birthday picnic and we had a beautiful day. Of course the next day was my actual birthday and I got an incredible present. We had our second scan and on top of the great news that the baby is healthy so far, we found out that she’s a girl!
The next weekend we took advantage of the fact that Jordan was working in Maastricht and we had a weekend in that part of the world. I had a lovely day wandering around the city while he was at the office and then we rented a car and went to Cologne and Aachen (both in Germany). We chose to go there because both cities have absolutely incredible cathedrals that are both on the UNESCO world heritage list. It also turned out to be the weekend of Cologne’s pride festival, so the place was packed!
Since then we’ve been laying pretty low here in London. Jordan goes to Canada next weekend for Angelo’s Wedding and then his mom is coming here the next weekend. Looking forward to a busy end to the summer…. Lisa

…having gotten up at an ungodly hour after Angelo’s first bachelor party last night. But, heading to New York for Sam & Christine’s wedding later today, so it’s going to be another good day.
In fact, this whole trip has been one busy, fun day after another. We started off last week in Baltimore - a very pretty city, Toronto needs to do what they’ve done with their waterfront - for Anne & Amir’s wedding. It was great to see friends we hadn’t seen for years and to enjoy a really nice party.
Then we flew to Toronto for the week where there was almost too much going on to fit it all in the five days. In fact, we didn’t, because, in the end, I didn’t even get a chance to call most of my friends (sorry everyone…). The Alli’s Journey Gala was a great concert and I had good time with family. Some shopping, but not very much, as Canada is still expensive - especially compared to the U.S.
Now, with the wedding today, tomorrow will be my only ‘day off’ on this vacation, before heading back to London for work Monday morning. And in fact, I’ll only be there for a couple of hours, because at 4pm Monday, I need to fly back to the Netherlands for the week.
It’s been a great vacation though and I’ll be sure to get some photos up later this week.

My first week of since Christmas. I’ve had a long weekend here and there, but this is my first real break in a while. Looking forward to it. Amir & Anne’s wedding tomorrow in Baltimore, Alli’s Journey gala on Wednesday in Toronto and Sam & Christine’s wedding in New York next weekend.
Fit a few family events, friend visits, work meetings and Angelo’s bachelor party in and one begins to realise that while I’m bound to have a great amount of fun, I’ll feel like coming back to work in a week just to get some rest…

It’s been a couple of weeks, but over the long weekend earlier this month, 18 of us went up to Scotland and spent the weekend at a country house in the Border regions. It was a great weekend, with horseback riding, hiking, and great food and wine. Probably the last time that many of us will be able to travel away together for quite some time. It was up there when we announced our news to our closest friends which was such a great experience.
Anyway, it was pretty laid back and relaxing, so not too many photos of activities, but the few that we took can be found here.
Most of them are from our drive up when we spent some time exploring Hadrian’s wall.

So of course two days after I leave for South Africa our router dies and Lisa is without a network for a month…
Now, I’m back home and we’re finally back online. And, at least for me, it’s been quite a month. Based down in Jo’burg on an interesting project with a great client and team. Not much to do down there in the city though on the weekends so instead I headed out of town for two great weekends of African travel.
The first weekend, Gene and I flew up to Zambia to see Victoria Falls.
One of the most awesome sights I’ve ever seen. With water levels high we couldn’t raft the Zambezi, but we got absolutely drenched just looking at the Falls from above and hiked down to the bottom through rivers, mud, rock and gnat. The next day we crossed to Zimbabwe (on the day after the election) to check the Falls out from that side. An absolutely incredible 24hrs!
My final weekend in Africa our whole team went to an island resort in Bazaruto, Mozambique.
Just a few kilometers off the coast across from Vilancolus. A very pretty place on the ocean with great snorkeling and warm Indian Ocean. Big tides as well, so half the time the sea wasn’t there (it had receded about 3km). Very relaxing.
Now I’m back in the UK, have no signs yet of malaria, am about to start a new, fairly local project, and am looking forward to our road trip to Scotland in a few weeks.
And we’re all caught up…

We were out for dinner with Kana last night (great to see her; she’s moving to Zurich!) and a couple of her friends at the Oxford and Cambridge Club. Very posh, a real privilege to get inside and see the place. You can imagine all the politics and ‘big decisions’ that must have been made inside those walls over the last couple hundred years.
She mentioned she was walking near Piccadilly Circus and saw a Tim Hortons! So, after dinner we walked back there (in the torrential downpour) and sure enough, there was one in a Spar convenience store!
Granted, it’s just a coffee machine and the doughnuts don’t look quite right, but provided you can get your own quantity of milk and sugar right, even the machine coffee made as a double-double is a pretty close and welcome taste of home. It is most definitely Tim’s coffee and the cups (no roll-ups to win) are from Quebec.
Got a few funny photos that I’ll post when Kana sends them to me, but if you’re in London and need a fix of Timmy’s it’s in the Spar on Haymarket!!!

It was a great afternoon and a great excuse for a party. In the end we had, at one time, over 25 people in our tiny flat - including a number of amazing kids - many of whom hadn’t seen each other in quite some time.
Good food, drink and friends and a great opportunity for Lisa to showcase her amazing creative talents. Lots of traffic around the table and a number of sales and commissions made it a very successful day for her.
A couple other opportunities for future parties were suggested which would be great channels in the coming months, but for today, it was a wildly successful launch, a great afternoon with friends and a really fun time.
For those of you who came, it was great to share with you and hope you had fun - thanks for coming! For those of you who couldn’t make it, whether in London or elsewhere; keep watching this space as hopefully this party was the first of many.

A sampling of our photos from Budapest are via the link below:
I’m still playing around with many of the others, learning Photoshop tricks to improve photos, fix skies, etc., but that will take time. This selection should give you an idea of how pretty Budapest is nonetheless.
